To: Crazy Cat Lady!
Let me start by saying something that still makes my family laugh: I did not want a kitten. I was NOT getting a kitten. I didn’t particularly like cats, and I certainly had no intention of becoming a cat person. For YEARS, my daughter begged me for a kitten. And for many years, my answer was a firm and unwavering NO. Well, apparently, even I have my limits. After unshakable persistence, I finally gave in and let her get a kitten. That, my friends, was the beginning of the end.
I was OBSESSED.
I fell completely, ridiculously, head-over-heels in love with that little kitten. So much so that my daughter eventually informed me that I was stealing HER kitten and needed to get one of my own. Naturally, I obliged. And then one kitten became another, and another, and somewhere along the way, I became the very person I never imagined I would be.
I am officially the crazy cat lady. And I couldn’t be happier about it!
Friday night? Home with my cats. Saturday night? Still home with my cats. Sunday? You guessed it. There is genuinely nowhere else I’d rather be than surrounded by my furry little companions, enjoying their personalities, their antics, and the endless entertainment they bring into our lives. What started with one very persistent daughter and one very unexpected kitten has grown into an entirely new chapter of my life, and ultimately, the creation of Cali Companion Kitties.
A Little About Our Family
My name is Christina, and we live in California, approximately 30 minutes outside of Sacramento in a growing family community. For nearly 3 decades, I have been raising animals as well as my six children. Our endeavors have always been centered around one fundamental belief: our animals are family members first and foremost. My children have played an integral role in their upbringing, socialization, and daily care. As they’ve grown into adults, that love for animals has only continued.
Today, our cats live between my home and the homes of my adult children, where they are loved, spoiled, and very much part of everyday family life. We have always believed that animals thrive when they are raised as cherished members of a household rather than simply being part of a breeding program. That philosophy has carried over naturally into our adventure with cats. If you ask my children, they will probably tell you that I have taken this whole cat thing to an entirely new level!
Our Home-Raised Philosophy
One of the things that has always set us apart is our commitment to raising our animals in loving, everyday home environments. Our cats are not simply pets. They are our companions, our family members, and, quite frankly, the rulers of our households! They live with us, sleep with us, entertain us, and participate in our daily routines. They receive individual attention, affection, and the kind of everyday interaction that helps shape their personalities and confidence.
Our kittens are raised with an emphasis on early socialization, gentle handling, and positive experiences with people and the sights and sounds of a normal household. Our goal is to raise kittens who are not only beautiful but also affectionate, confident, well-adjusted companions who transition comfortably into oh blah blah their forever homes.
Experience, Education & a Passion for Doing Things Right
I worked as a professional educator and advocate for children with Special Needs. That background, combined with my years of experience raising animals, has shaped the way I approach everything we do. I have spent countless hours researching, learning from others knowledgeable in the field, and continually refining our practices. I believe there is always more to learn, and I take great pride in approaching our program with both experience and an open mind.
Our cats receive comprehensive health screening, including FIV/FeLV testing, heart disease screening, and genetic testing through. We also utilize color and trait DNA testing to better understand how we pair them together to get the most desirable traits. We are committed to producing healthy, beautiful kittens with wonderful temperaments, and we proudly offer a two-year health guarantee against qualifying life-altering genetic diseases.
But beyond the testing, research, and experience, I believe one of the most important things we can give our kittens is a wonderful beginning in life. And that starts at home.
Family Has Always Been at the Heart of What We Do
My children have always been a huge part of my life with creating amazing fur babies. They were raised with animals, surrounded by the responsibility, compassion, and sometimes complete chaos that comes with caring for them. I have always believed that children benefit tremendously from growing up with animals and learning to care for something beyond themselves.
Our experiences as a family have taught us the importance of patience, understanding, humor, and recognizing that everyone has something special to offer. Our animals have played a wonderful role providing companionship, comfort, responsibility, and unconditional love. Although my children are now adults, they remain actively involved in our lives and our animals’ lives. Having our cats living between our homes allows them to enjoy the attention and affection of an extended family that genuinely adores them. I love that something as simple as a kitten has brought yet another shared passion into our family.
Giving Back
I have also had the privilege of combining my educational background and love for animals with charitable work. We frequently participate in fundraising and charitable events benefiting children, individuals with disabilities, and other wonderful organizations. Our efforts have helped raise over one million dollars for charitable causes with our animals!
It has been an incredibly rewarding part of our journey and a reminder that the things we love can have an impact far beyond our own homes. I am grateful for the experiences, relationships, and opportunities that have brought us to where we are today.
Welcome to Cali Companion Kitties!
I never could have imagined that the woman who spent YEARS refusing to get a kitten would someday be writing an About Us page for her very own Kingdom of Cats! What began as an unexpected love affair with one little kitten has turned into a genuine passion for these remarkable animals and the joy they bring into our lives. My hope is that every kitten we raise brings that same happiness, companionship, and unconditional love to another family. Whether you have loved cats your entire life or, like me, have yet to discover that you’re secretly a crazy cat person, I hope one of our kittens finds its way into your heart.
After all, sometimes the companion you never knew you needed turns out to be the one you can’t imagine living without.
